Mt. Washington 2013

There will be a slew of Mt. Washington posts and, hopefully, photos coming in the next few days.  For now, let’s just say a job well done to all of those who made a run up the mountain this year.  For those who missed out on all that fun, we hope we’ve inspired you to maybe give a go next year.

[Discussing how the elites form doesn't seem to change while running a 22% grade] “true…but nobody looks happy.  Everyone that comes up looks vaguely tortured.”
-Liisa Nogella, words approximated

Wrap-up from Bob Gillis in case you didn’t see it:
Our fearless leader, Peter Watson, would have picked this race apart and shared fascinating statistics by now about the race.  You’re all on your own with that my friends.  But Peter was with us all this year.  And its been his competitiveness and cajoling (gentle) that has resulted in Team Gloucester’s success over the years.

What a great day Saturday.  Congratulations to our Champions of Mount Washington, the Women’s Team.  You are incredible and inspiring and deserving, and in the tradition of Peter, just a little reminder that there’s some team in Western Mass who tried to claim your trophy, gave it a valiant effort, and fell short.  But rumor has it their targeting codfish in 2014 :0)
And great job former Virgins!!  Gritty performances all around under tough conditions.  I feel very fortunate to be associated with you all.
ONLY 12 MONTHS TO THE MOUNTAIN!!

Remember…There’s only one hill!
